Sri Lanka CID official to visit MP Duminda Silva in Singapore

 

An official of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Sri Lanka Police is to leave for Singapore soon to evaluate the condition of ruling party legislator Duminda Silva who is being treated in a hospital there.
 
The official is expected to visit the MP, speak to him, meet his doctors and submit a report to the Department.
 
Sri Lanka judiciary has ordered Duminda Silva to be arrested and produced in court in suspicion of assassinating Presidential advisor and former MP Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra.
 
Silva sustained serious injuries to his head during the shooting incident that took place in Mulleriyawa on October 8th. Premachandra and four others were killed in the incident allegedly by Silva's supporters.
 
He had been taken away in a charter flight by his family for further treatment in Singapore when the court order was issued.
 
President Mahinda Rajapaksa visited him in hospital before he left the country.
 
The government has said that Duminda Silva will be brought back to the country according to the due legal process.
