Dengue fever cases rising ahead of New Delhi Games
More victims of dengue fever are being reported in New Delhi as the competition programme for the Commonwealth Games nears its start.

About 3,500 cases of the mosquito‐borne disease have been reported in the city, and seven of them have died, the Press Trust of India reported.

No one from the Commonwealth Games, which opened Sunday and ends on Oct. 14, has been affected, however. The Indian team denied a report that a lawn bowling team manager contracted the disease.

“No manager has dengue fever,” the team said Sunday.

The New Delhi event, only the second Commonwealth Games staged in Asia, have been plagued by problems, including corruption allegations, construction delays and security worries.
