Sri Lanka ‘A’ progressing from their overnight score of 485 for the loss of the three wickets declared at 543 for four wickets with a lead of 198.
 
South Africa ‘A’ got off to a flying start when Stephen Cook and Dean Elgar shared a 128‐run partnership between them for the opening wicket, but then they lost six quick wickets for 60 runs. This left South Africa struggling at 168 for six by tea. Mendis was the main destroyer for Sri Lanka by picking up five wickets, including the opening pair. Elgar who scored 174 in the first innings got out for 78 while Cook was judged lbw for 52 runs.
 
Earlier Sri Lankan Wicket‐keeper batsman Kaushal Silva scored an unbeaten 70 runs and the highlight of the game was Dinesh Chandimal’s double ton which guided Sri Lanka to a mammoth first innings score.
