Sri Lanka ace spinner out of T20 World Cup, returns home today
Sri Lanka’s ace spinner Muttiah Muralitharan will no longer be playing in the ICC Tweenty20 World Cup tournament in the Caribbean and heading home today due to injury, Sri Lanka Cricket announced yesterday.

Sri Lanka Cricket’s Head of Cricket Operations Ashley De Silva has confirmed Murali’s exit from the tournament.

Murali suffered a groin injury during the opener against New Zealand on April 30 and was ruled out of the match against Zimbabwe. He was advised to rest 2‐3 weeks.

He returned to the filed earlier than expected to play 4 overs at Friday’s super 8 match against West Indies but has further aggravated his injury.

Sri Lanka is to face the tough rival Australia tomorrow in Bridgetown, Barbados.
