Attention drawn struggle of the people of Paravipanchan transformed into hunger strike

The people of Paravipanchan who had been staging attention drawn struggle urging the release of their lands for seven days till yesterday transformed their protests into hunger strike from today onwards. They further stated that they decided to stage hunger strike following they had been abandoned by everyone.

Following are further revealed in this regard;

The people of Paravipanchan had been staging attention drawn struggle demanding the release of their lands still being occupied by the occupying Sri Lankan military for several days.

Subsequently, the opposition leader who visited there on 17th of last month assured that the lands would be handed over within two weeks of time after the phonic conversation he had with the Secretary of Defense.

As of now only three and a half acres of land had been released though the assured deadline given by the opposition leader already got finished. Consequently, the people of Paravipanchan once again started staging the attention drawn protest and had been staging the protest demanding the release of their lands for 7 days day and night.

Parliamentarian Ankajan Ramanathan visited the scene and assured the people that the matter would be taken to the attention of the President. According to the protestors, none of the responsible authorities in the district and politicians except Ankajan Ramanathan visited them. They added that they had decided to stage hunger strike from Wednesday onwards. “We will not give up our hunger strike until our lands get released”, the people further added.

10 acres of lands belonging to 15 persons are yet to be released at Paravipanchan.
