These photos and my old reminiscences The questions drilled in my mind while seeing these photos:-

The man speaking with the leader of the Tamil National Alliance in this picture is Ostin Fernando, the current governor of the eastern province. He served as the secretary of the Ministry of Defense of Sri Lanka. In 2001, when the initiatives of beginning the peace talks were taking place, he was brought by the Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe as the secretary of the Ministry of Defense.  He was also respected as a Sri Lanka's Civil Service's model. He is not a racist. During the peace talk times, I heard about him as the one who is interested in left doctrines.
When I went to gather news in the peace talks, I spoke to him few times. I realized that he who seemed to be a mediocre did not have the prevalent popularity for the post of the secretary of the Ministry of Defense.

He who had been as the best executive in the Sri Lanka's state administration section served as the Government Agent of Nuwara Eliya and Polonnaruwa districts, as the Postal Inspector General of the Sri Lanka, as the commissioner of cooperative department of the Sri Lanka, as the secretaries of the ministries of rehabilitation, general administration, internal affairs and provincial councils, as the departmental advisor to the United Nations and as the advisor to the president Maithripala Srisena.

I wrote in an article that the appointment of him as the eastern provincial governor is welcomed when he was appointed as the eastern provincial governor. In the eastern province which includes three districts where particularly acute contradictions and problems were prevailing and multi-ethnic people are living, the appointment of him as the governor instead of the former governor Mokana Wijayawickrama was warmly welcomed.

Today (22/08/2015), at a stage in Sampoor, what did the former president Chandrika and the current president Maithri who is closer to Chandrika and who could be the one who could listen what she says, the leader of the Tamil National Alliance and Ostin Fernando talk among them?

Have they spoken about resolving the prevailing contradictions yet to be resolved? Have they thought about releasing the lands that are yet to be released? Have they spoken about the immediate tasks to be done in the east through the government of national reconciliation? Certainly, they might have spoken about one or two of these.

In fact, how will the leadership of Tamils deal the prevailing political circumstance? What will be the constructive steps that are going to be taken by the Tamil National Alliance which takes part in the regime of the eastern provincial council? These questions drilled in my mind while seeing these photos.

Many may question that what Chandrika did in 1995 and in 2000. But, Chandrika now wants to reach a good solution by making use of the prevailing circumstance as much as she can. Maithri also has this intention. The appointment of Ostin Fernando as the governor of Eastern Province is one of his expressions of good will. Releasing the lands in Sampoor is the continuation of it.

The major role of changing the prevailing circumstance as a favorable to us is belonging to us. For that, maximum efforts, commitments and the determination to achieve these are must from our side. Will we realize this?
